This year, we celebrate our 48th anniversary as a structural steel contractor.
The company was founded by John Campbell & Ken Shaw (John's son-n-law) as Campbell & Shaw Steel Fabrication, Inc. in 1973. When Ken retired in 2011, the company was acquired by Karen and Mark Lietke who renamed the company Campbell & Shaw Steel, Inc. Our President and CEO, Karen Lietke, was proud to acquire such a reputable and well run business. She continues to provide the core values of the original founders by providing excellent customer service and quality fabrications at competitive costs. She believes in the old adage to treat customers how you would like to be treated. We continue to offer an unsurpassed service, which is why so many of our customers stay with us and so much of our new business comes through recommendation. We are a dedicated structural steel fabrication company. We are able to operate a very flexible system of working hours meaning that we can meet your deadlines and will be honest with you prior to commitment if we are unable to achieve certain goals. Bonding is also available upon customer request.
2018 marked a new chapter in company history. We completed our new 33,000 square foot addition to our existing 13,700 square foot facility. The new addition houses new state of the art fully automated CNC structural steel fabrication technology. We are the first structural steel fabricator in Michigan with this particular make and model drill and saw CNC processing line.
On May 8, 2019 - Campbell & Shaw Steel, Inc. was awarded as one of Michigan's 50 Companies to Watch in 2019 by Michigan Celebrates Small Business. We are the first structural steel fabricator in Michigan to ever receive this award since the awards program started in 2005.
Companies who are selected as a “Michigan 50 Companies to Watch” are a remarkable group of second-stage companies. Defined as having 6 to 99 full-time-equivalent employees and generating $750,000 to $50 million in annual revenue or working capital from investors or grants, these companies form the backbone of Michigan’s economy. Representing all regions of the state and a diverse range of industries, companies like Campbell & Shaw Steel are known for their exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, creation of innovation or use of innovation in creative ways, and their sustainable competitive advantage.

Michigan 50 Companies to Watch is presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business. The program received nearly 600 award nominations in 2019, which surpassed the previous year’s record of 425 nominations.
